Action mechanism of road polyester fiber


   1. Reinforcing ribs. The road polyester fiber exists in the mixture as a three-dimensional dispersed phase, distributed in random directions, overlaps each other, and forms a network entanglement constraint on the mixture, thereby overcoming the relative slippage and cracks between particles.


  2. Road polyester fiber has a dispersing effect. If there is no fiber, a large amount of bituminous mineral powder is likely to become micelles, which cannot be evenly dispersed between the aggregates, resulting in the common oil spots on the road. Fiber can disperse micelles.


  3. Road polyester fiber has the function of adsorbing asphalt. Due to its large specific surface area, the fiber material is easy to absorb the oil in the asphalt, so that the viscosity of the asphalt increases and the adhesion is stronger, which makes the thickness of the structural asphalt membrane increase. According to analysis, the asphalt membrane is 65% thicker than the traditional mixture~ 113%.


  4. Road polyester fiber has a stabilizing effect. The addition of fiber obviously prevents the flow of asphalt and keeps the asphalt in a relatively stable state. The fiber has a strong ability to sustain asphalt. Generally, it must be at a high temperature above 130°C before the excess asphalt drips on the surface of the fiber. When asphalt expands under high temperature in summer, the voids inside the fiber will become a buffer zone, which will not become free and free asphalt and oily, which will stabilize the mixture at high temperature.
