According to the White House website, the United States recently announced the establishment of a composite manufacturing innovation agency, a new component of the U.S. manufacturing innovation network. The manufacturing innovation agency, which is a collaboration of 122 companies, non-profit organizations, universities and research laboratories with the Department of energy, will build the U.S. power in the next generation of composite materials with an investment of more than $250 million. Of the $250 million institutional start-up funds, 70 million will come from federal investment, and non federal funds will exceed 180 million.

The Department of energy focuses on composite materials, such as carbon fiber. CMI will develop lower cost, faster and more efficient methods for manufacturing and recycling composites. The organization will be headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, and the University of Tennessee will include 86 key partners and 36 additional alliance members.

There are 57 companies, Such as Boeing, Loma, Ge, Dassault systems, ESI, PPG, Ford, Honda, Volkswagen, Toray, Dow Chemical, BASF, etc.; 15 universities and laboratories, such as Dayton Research University Oak Ridge laboratory, etc.; 14 other entities, such as composite center, Oak Ridge carbon fiber composites alliance, etc.; 36 alliance members, such as Alcoa, 3M, Cincinnati, Ingersoll, EWI, quickstep, Toyota joint technology research center, etc.

In addition, the two parties in the Senate passed the legislative application for building a manufacturing innovation network in December last year, namely the "revitalizing American manufacturing and innovation (rami) Act", which will clear the legal obstacles for further strengthening American manufacturing.
